Zak Taulafo: Keen to play

Wasps boss Dai Young will rest several players for Saturday's Amlin Challenge Cup clash with Mogliano, but prop Zak Taulafo is determined to be in action.

29-year-old Taulafo, has been busier than most this season, featuring in 12 of Wasps' 13 Premiership games this term as well as all three of Samoa's autumn internationals.

In both the black of Wasps and the blue of Samoa, Taulafo has excelled, helping his country to an impressive victory over Wales in Cardiff and helping his club into the top four in the Premiership table.

Wasps have stormed up the table thanks to their 100 percent record at Adams Park, maintained with recent wins over Bath and Sale Sharks, either side of a first away win of the season at London Welsh.

Taulafo and co have the luxury of staying in the top four until at least next month with European action now kicking in, but the front row insists he doesn't want his winning run to end.

"When you're winning, you don't want to stop, you want to be in the team every week and you want to be playing every week, you always want the jersey," said Taulafo.

"We have a mindset now that we go onto the pitch and every week we think we're going to win, we don't expect to get beaten at all.

"It's a lot different from last year but we're reaping the rewards and now we're in the top four and we want to stay there for as long as we can.

"Last year it was difficult with the off the field problems but you just try and focus on what you can do on the pitch.

"We've come through the Christmas period with three wins which has been great for us. It's been very hard work to get up into the top four."

Billy Vunipola has been rewarded with a string of fine displays with a call-up to the England Saxons squad while experienced fly-half Stephen Jones has also been credited for Wasps' upturn - as have jet-heeled duo Tom Varndell and Christian Wade.

Their scrum however, is unrecognisable from last season with Taulafo, who has featured at both loosehead and tighthead this term, playing a major role.

"I've been very happy with my form for Wasps, and particularly during the autumn internationals for Samoa," he added.

"I'm a tighthead mainly but I've been playing at loosehead a bit as well and still performed.

"I spoke with the coaches and they told me what they want from me and that's what I've been trying to do."
