Jonny May: Three tries

Gloucester ran fourteen tries past Rovigo on Saturday to win 90-7 for their first victory of their Amlin Challenge Cup Campaign.

But the hosts came up agonisingly short of their highest ever score in Europe - a 106-point winning margin against Bucharest in 2005.

Andy Hazell opened the scoring after just one minute and from there the floodgates opened with James Simpson-Daniel, Freddie Burns, Olly Morgan, Lesley Vainikolo and Jonny May all touching down along with a penalty try.

The try-fest continued after the interval with Henry Trinder and Charlie Sharples, while Morgan and Vainikolo both scored again, but it was May that stole the show with two more to seal a hat-trick.

But in a worrying sight for the Shed faithful, fly-half Freddie Burns hobbled off with 15 minutes to go after contributing a 23-point haul.

In the Pool's other fixture, La Rochelle managed to overcome fellow French side Agen by a 30-23 margin that moves them top of the standings.
