Sevens: Attendance boost?

Sevens' return to the Olympic Games in 2016 could be given a boost as it now seems likely that the action could be played at the Olympic Stadium.

It was initially planned that the much-anticipated Sevens would happen at the ground of Vasco da Gama football club in Sao Januario Stadium.

However, the soccer club has failed to meet both the International Olympic Committee and the International Rugby Board's requirements so a move to Estadio Olimpico Jaoa Havelange is now in the offing. According to insidethegames.biz website, an agreement on the switch is close because of the fact the opening ceremony will be held elsewhere at the Maracana Stadium.

Havelange Stadium has a capacity of 60,000 while Sao Januario Stadium holds 25,000.
