Sharks lock Pieter-Steph du Toit has been named in the Durban-based outfit's starting XV to face Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday.
Du Toit, who has been sidelined since June with a sternum injury, will make his first appearance in this year's competition and forms a new second row partnership alongside Edwin Hewitt in place of Marco Wentzel, who is ruled out with a dislocated shoulder, and Peet Marais.
Other changes to the side that lost to Western Province last weekend sees Wiehahn Herbst and Kyle Cooper coming in for Rayno Gerber and Craig Burden in the front row while Charl McLeod takes over from Cobus Reinach at scrum-half in the only change amongst the backs.
Jean Deysel, who was nursing a few bruises, has been passed fit and will take his place at flank with Jacques Botes retaining the captaincy for this important game.
