Coenie Oosthuizen: Suffered a back injury against WP

Cheetahs prop Coenie Oosthuizen has been ruled out of the Springboks' end-of-year tour to Europe due to a back injury sustained in Saturday's Currie Cup loss to Western Province.

Oosthuizen hurt a disc in his back during the Cheetahs' 36-15 defeat at Newlands which brings to an end a frustrating year in which he was also sidelined for two months after injuring his neck in a Test against England in June.

Although a full full diagnosis is still expected on his latest injury, Cheetahs team doctor Ian Morris said Oosthuizen will be out of action for between eight to 12 weeks.

"It is a back injury, he's hurt the disc in his back," Morris told Supersport.

"We will still get him a specialist opinion but the initial diagnosis is that he should sit out for between eight to 12 weeks and therefore would miss the end of year tour with the Springboks."

When asked how the latest injury has affected Oosthuizen's neck injury, Morris said it "was clearly still a concern and will be for a large part of his career.

"For that reason he has to be managed carefully and properly in the future," he added.

Might be a blessing ,i just cant understand why HM and co ignore players of the quality of B.JBotha,B.Murajti,and W.P.Nel who are all in goodform atm ,and playing in the NH The alternatives in SA atm are imo pale reflections of those players atm.Want to finish in the top 4 of the IRB rankings ,play some of the players actually playing in europe now.
