Quietly confident: Pienaar and Potgieter

Blue Bulls coach Pine Pienaar believes his side can upset the Sharks in their Currie Cup semi-final in Durban on Saturday.

After securing their spot in the play-offs, with a convincing 50-29 win over the Golden Lions in Johannesburg, the men from Pretoria have now won three out of their last four matches during the last month.

The only defeat which they suffered was a 13-12 loss to the Sharks in atrocious conditions in Durban at the end of September.

Pienaar feels his side can learn from that result and turn the tables on their hosts.

"The conditions that night were very tough," Pienaar told the Beeld website.

"But the tactical plans we made for that game really worked well. If I have my calculations right, we haven't beaten them in a Currie Cup game in Durban since 2006.

"But after our recent game there, we'll definitely give ourselves a chance."

Blue Bulls captain Dewald Potgieter echoed his coach's sentiments.

"We played really well against the Sharks at Loftus and we nearly beat them in Durban," he said.

"But even though we lost that game, it didn't faze us because we now know we can beat the Sharks in Durban."
