The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) appeal council is to meet to hear an appeal by four provincial unions, the NZRU said in a statement on Thursday.
The Buller, East Coast, North Otago and West Coast rugby unions are appealing against an NZRU Board ruling which restricts the number of loan players in this year's Heartland Championship (second tier competition) to four.
The NZRU Appeal Council hearing will be held at the NZRU offices in Wellington on Monday 9 July.
The NZRU Appeal Council members will be former NZRU Chairman Rob Fisher (Chairman), former NZRU President and All Blacks Coach Peter Burke, Southland lawyer and rugby administrator John Pringle and Wellington lawyer Stephen Ward.
