The Scarlets have been dealt a blow to their backs with the news that Kristian Phillips has broken a bone in his hand.
Phillips' injury came in the 42-19 loss to RaboDirect PRO12 champions Leinster last weekend.
The 23-year-old will now be out for around four to six weeks, news which after the losses of George North and Andy Fenby over the off-season has come as a major blow to the Scarlets' plans.
"It is a disappointment for Kristian and for us," forwards coach Danny Wilson told the South Wales Evening Post.
"Kristian has had a good pre-season and has raised his game. But it is what it is and we are going to have to make a few adjustments.
"There is nobody walking through the door immediately so we have got to get on with it.
"We are slightly short there with that injury, I am not going to hide away from it, but we have definitely got players who can be versatile, we have proved that in the past."
