A 'great leap forward' for Cardiff

Hoping to build on momentum: Gareth Baber

Cardiff Blues backs coach Gareth Baber hopes that Saturday's shock victory away to Munster will spark a revival of fortunes for his side this season.

The Blues ended a four-game losing run in all competitions at home to the Dragons on Boxing Day and they did ever better by silencing the Musgrave Park crowd as tries from Robin Copeland and Owen Williams secured a deserved 17-6 win with young fly half Rhys Patchell converting both scores after adding a first half penalty.

The Blues' only away win since September came against Zebre in Parma in late November and Baber hailed his team's performance.

"That win was right up there, these are the moments you work hard for, in fairness to everyone who is associated with Cardiff Blues, that's exactly what we've been working for," said the Blues backs coach.

"It's nice to come to Musgrave Park to silence the crowd and come away with the victory.

"I think we showed a bit of character, it wasn't a pretty game by any stretch and I think Munster were a little bit off their game as well but you've got to take your chances when you can and we spotted the weaknesses in their game and took our opportunities.

"You've got to build on momentum that you create, we've talked about that a lot as a group," he added.

"You'll get your hits again during the season, but it's a great leap forward for this group of players.

"They're not young players anymore, they're here for the long-term future of Cardiff Blues."

Cardiffs problems arnt in the backs ,its a lack in the forwards.Still a very weak pack imo, that will get mullard by alot of teams .A good defencive display, gave them victory this time, against a faltering Munster this season, who arnt the force they where.

Think he's forgotten that you need a front row to win most games!
