Touching down: Tommy Seymour

Glasgow take another giant stride towards the RaboDirect Pro12 play-offs with a comfortable 29-6 win over visitors Aironi at Firhill.

After a compelling win last time out against the Ospreys, the Scottish side saw off their Italian counterparts to keep the pressure on those above them in the table.

It was the home side who started much the better here, and they had the lead within three minutes courtesy of a Duncan Weir penalty.

The hosts then had a few chances early on to score the first try of the contest, but failed to do so. However, they did extend their lead to six points after ten minutes, Weir again on target with a placed kick.

It was all Glasgow at this stage, with Aironi clearly struggling to get up to the pace of the game. When Weir added his third penalty midway through the half, Glasgow looked like they may run away with this one.

However, to their credit, the visitors began to fight back, and scored two penalties without reply through Luciano Orquera, the game was firmly back on.

Glasgow were looking slightly complacent at this stage, but managed to score the opening try of the contest just before half-time, Tommy Seymour running through to score, Weir adding the extras, the home side were now back on top at the break.

The home side kicked on after the restart. Weir scored his fourth penalty of the contest, before Chris Fusaro bundled over for a try to put Glasgow firmly in command.

The Warriors had plenty more chances approaching half-time, and finally got their third try when David Lemi put Peter Murchie in.

Glasgow went in search of a bonus point victory, but couldn't find another way through, and had to settle for what they had, that win keeping them in play-off contention.
