Hurricanes lock Jeremy Thrush hailed his side's win against the Crusaders which does their play-off chances a power of good with one game to go.

Thrush, whose side have a bye week in the final round, knew that a triumph over the Crusaders was vital to their hopes of knockout rugby.

And the 'Canes did just that after two tries from Thrush's second-row partner Blade Thomson proved key in the victory at Westpac Stadium.

"It was a great effort, the boys just never gave up," revealed the hard-working stand-in captain.

"The boys worked so bloody hard on defence to keep them out.

"Set piece was a bit of trouble - they're world class there - but the rest of our game we kept the attitude up and came away with a good result."
