Reds captain James Horwill's long-awaited return to action has again been delayed due to his ongoing battle with injury.
Horwill has not played for nine months after tearing a hamstring against the Brumbies last year.
The Wallabies lock was due to return in the Reds' final pre-season match with the Chiefs but was ruled out after injuring his ankle in training three days before the match.
He was then left out of the Brisbane-based franchise's squad for their opener against the Brumbies, as a precautionary measure, but Reds boss Ewen McKenzie has now revealed that his skipper would also be sidelined for this weekend's clash with the Waratahs.
"He's not quite ready yet so rather than mess around there we'll just continue on," he told AAP.
"The plan at the moment is he'll probably run the water for us this week so his return is not far away.
"It's the start of a long season and we don't feel it's the right time to run guys who are semi-fit."

Not sure where you got your list, I can think of 8 Reds (4 wallabies) off the top of my head. Anthony Faingaa, Rod Davies, Horwill and Samo. Oh another .....Will Geina ! I must be getting old. Not sure if Beau Robinson has been capped or Luke Morahan
And Ben Daley another wallaby ! Better stop there, Wanna check where you get your info from.
And out of your list which other team has lost their captain and vice captain ?
My point was about last year, where no one came close to the number of injuries as the Reds had.

Trinats2 - and the 2012 broken record continues, the endless whine from Queensland!. Of course the precious Reds are the only team with players unavailable/injuries!
Here is a list of players injured/unavailable (note this includes suspension) from their named Super Rugby squads at present: Blues 1, Brumbies 1, Bull3 3, Cheetahs 9, Chiefs 4, Crusaders 1, Force 2, Highlanders 9, Hurricanes 7, Kings 2, Rebels 4, Reds 3, Sharks 6, Stormers 9, Waratahs 3.
A big Get Over It for you.

Same old story for the Reds. Without J. Horwill, they just crumble and fall to pieces. Tis such a pity when quality players like him get plagued by so many injuries. Now is the time for R. Simmons to stand up and be seen once again. J. W. Harrison is one player who always plays well. Victory depends on Q. Cooper and the backs to be at their demolishing best.

All we need is eight more injuries to key players and a few suspensions for a good tackle (5 weeks al a Ioane !) and we are back to last season. Surely that could not happen again !!!
