Matt Hodgson: To lead Force in 2013

Western Force loose forward Matt Hodgson has been chosen to lead the Perth-based side in this season's Super Rugby tournament.

The former Wallaby will fill the leadership void left by Nathan Sharpe (retired) and David Pocock, who has joined the Brumbies.

And new Force coach Michael Foley is confident 31-year-old Hodgson was well placed to take on the skipper's role.

"It could easily be seen to be a lot of chiefs and not a lot of Indians," Foley told AAP.

"But what we do have is one captain, and everyone else just takes care of business and keeps each other accountable to the highest standards."

Foley said selflessness and honesty were two of Hodgson's greatest attributes.

"Those two things together just give him enormous respect within the team," Foley said.

"We're very fortunate to have him leading us."

Honestly...when is the Rugby world going to ban front-rowers from becoming coaches? Pigs of that vintage rarely stuck their heads up out of a scrum, had no ball skills, couldnt tackle and couldnt run around the park without stopping to put their hands on their knees.

Ok guys I don't understand what Foley means by "It could easily be seen to be a lot of chiefs and not a lot of Indians". Any ideas?

Anyway Hodgson's appointment was expected.

Even after the Sexton joins Rebels headline I fell for this one too, thinking they meant Charlie.
