I don't doubt Ioane's class when he's in form like last year but no way for this years team of the season. Other than JPP, there wasn't another stand-out wing, I heard Cummins played well at times or maybe the Fijian playing at the Chiefs (Tikioratuma?) .. although Savea was probably the best. He'll be behind Jane, Kahui and probably Gear but he's not in the ABs because he's the finished article, he'll be there to learn and work on his weaknesses. He has the potential, that is for sure.

The reason why Kirchener is selected for the Boks is beyond all of us. Pietersen had some good games, however Lambie and even Pienaar are ahead of him at the moment imo.
Re Ioane, I agree he had an off season, however he is the guy who can give the right balance between attacking and defensive phases to the Australian backline. Savea was good, but he clearly lacks that kind of skills and workrate which are required by an AB's wing.

Greyling should be in the top 6 props in the competition so a very odd choice! Not surprised at Barret as back up. Not many 10's elsewhere stood out (bar for Carter obviously). No idea why Carlepone thinks Read shouldn't be 8, due to being crocked - I thought it was performances that count. Amazed he also argues with Taylor, who a superb competition (can't have seen him play I guess)!

@Trinats - though only person who comments more about SBW than PR is you mate. Who has the man crush??

But he's not in form and hasn't been all season.
I would have preferred to have seen the team of the season based on players who picked up the most team of the week nominations. Obviously Dean Greyling wouldnt be at 3 if he played 1 all season and Read wouldn't be 8 if he as injured for most of it. I find it hard to argue with the backs but could probably have differing opinions on the forwards but to be fair didn't watch enough of the Oz and SA matches.. also what happened to the Stormers 15, Peterson I think? He was on fire early in the season, did he make the Bok squad over Kirchener?

Some of the garbage posted here is laughable at best.
@Trinats
Instead of moaning, put up your own team. And SBW was the best 12 this season, whether you like him or not. Tries, assists, offloads and defence. Granted there was the odd shoulder tackle but aside from that, I can't see what he's done to be put out.
I've only seen bits and pieces this season as I'm in NH and there aren't too many games shown... however some changes I'd make:
9 - Genia
7 - Hooper
8 - Not sure about Read due to time out but anyone else better this season?
6 - The Stormers guy, Kolisi? Not sure if he'd make the team but he seems to have played every position in the back row this season and done well. Thought he'd at least get a mention.
Agree with the backline and number 2 and 4. The others, I don't have enough knowledge on.
But to reiterate..... if you going to slate some of the positions, back it up with a credible replacement.

I am not whinging, I am just observing. The analysis of the players to pick was superficial and not accurate. I may have included even more Kiwi than PR, my point was than in the selction there were the wrong ones. BTW, if in form, I would pick Ioane as 11, the best wing in business.

"This was decided by a flip of the coin" and the rest by thrown darts at a wall full of pictures. and there had to be a life size centerfold of SBW due to the man crush PR has on him. Funny how Read gets a look in even though he was injured, what about other injured players or even 5 weeks suspended players??
Agree with 1, 2, 4, 6, 10, 13. (12 is just a wind up)

@ Carpelone Aussie has few possible candidates because their five teams are so watered down in talent that no one can really shine consistently. SA teams seem too anxious to take any risks. The Stormers topped the table with the least number of tries. Are Habana and Aplon there to chase the high kicks? The rolling maul and the up and under seem the height of imagination? That's why NZ dominates this team - quite rightly too. Could argue over Kerr Barlow, Read, Sona's inclusions though.
Agree with others that Dean Greyling is doing a "Bakkies" imitation this year.

Either youre joking, dont watch rugby or you are a complete idiot. Hes just been the best back rower in the comp all season thats all.
@jonesy2
Shiperley? really? pietersen is miles ahead of him and any other winger this year.

Regarding Genia, PR is not choosing the best players in the Super XV, but who played the best rugby in the Super XV.
We all know Genia's ability. He didn't show it much in this year's tournament, however.

Kiwi biased selection.
Adam Thomson, you mean the penalty machine? Bauden Barret second best fly-half? Please, give me a break. Crooked Reid at 8? Guillotine Tameifuna second best TH? Crotty second best outside centre? I am rolling on my belly. Andrč Taylor best full back? Sickening.
