should have taken advice from Bryan Redpath on how to step down for the good of the team and later stumble upon a new job

Is that why Foyey got a W shaved onto his chin?

@TheTruthHurts, I concur we need a team in WA. Your comments make a lot of sense, unfortunately it is what it is so something has to be done to ensure that the Force have a building and continuity plan in place.

@Ramage, fair comments overall, you may be onto something there. The Tahs board certainly has a lot to answer for and as you pointed out in a previous post elsewhere they do come across as a conceited bunch.
I hope he does succeed because as a person I like him. There is one concern I have though and a point that needs to be considered, while our forwards game remained strong our back-line certainly regressed. Additionally under Foley the Tahs lost elements of confidence which is indicative of a lack of motivational leadership. Were these due to elements outside of his control I don't know however as the head coach it is ones duty to create an enthusiastic environment for the team, sadly if this doesn't happen it reflects poorly on ones coaching ability at the time.

Well, David Pocock was sad movies wasn't he! After all the Force did for the guy! I think he believes his own PR stuff! Bit like that Matt Giteau fellow of a few years ago. Come on! The Force!!!

Haha indeed George Smith look a little bit further back at the miserable performance of the Waratahs. It isn't just Michael Foley who has not been able to get them to walk the walk. It wasn't so long ago that Ewan McKenzie had problems with the Waratahs Board Of Control. How many other sad Waratahs' coaches have there been? All miserable failures for the so called power house of Australian Rugby. As they say something is rotten in Denmark or in this case Sydney. First it was the Waratahs cast offs who went to Canberra at the start of Super Rugby who made a mark and won the Competition. Then it was the Reds who McKenzie brought up from the pits who succeeded, whilst the Waratahs languished as also rans. No sorry George Smith I suggest you have a closer look at what is wrong with the Waratahs. Always the proverbial bridesmaids never the bride but worse than that really no better than the flowergirls. If ever there was a team who can not walk the walk its the Waratahs and that is why Foley has joined the Force. A chance to be liberated from the shackles of the Waratahs where he would only have got one more year for the Waratahs are unlikely to change. At least he can attempt to raise the Force from the ashes. I Have no doubt it will be a hard task but one he will relish. Good luck to him he has made a very good move.

He should have been an assistant coach, and they should have gone for someone who knows how to get something out of next to nothing. With Pocock gone and Sharpe retired they are going to get annihilated next year, this is sad because having a team in WA makes sense, it needs to start somewhere and they took the punt and created what was looking to be a good franchise (continually building), the Rebels in my opinion should not have come into the comp until the Force and their structure was settled including growing their own juniors through WA domestic teams competing in the Aussie comp... which is weak yes but eyes on the future should have been set instead they wanted stop gap measures with quick temparary success and now they are paying for it. I really hope the Force can survive and improve in years to come!

So it wasn't so much, "Foley falls on his sword" as per yesterday's article, but more, "I've got a new job and the pay's better!".

M. Foley's appointment is in-fact the biggest setback for Force. hahaa... How do you appoint coaches at Super Rugby level anyway? Is it based on proven track record or anything goes i suppose. Bad decision. End is near for the Force.. I think next season they won't win any game.
