Nigel Davies: Turned down coaching roles in England and France

Former Gloucester boss Nigel Davies is weighing up his options after he parted ways with the Kingsholm-based club two months ago.

Davies moved to Gloucester from Welsh region the Scarlets in June 2012 but departed in May after a season in which Gloucester finished a disappointing ninth place in the Premiership standings with a year of his contract still to run.

The former Wales caretaker coach said two job opportunities have since come his way but he turned both down as he plans to take time out to consider his future.

"There is nothing to be gained from rushing into anything," he told the South Wales Evening Post.

"I'm taking a step back for the next three to five months to decide what is best for me personally and professionally.

"Of course I was grateful for the chances that came in. One was with a French second division club, the other with an English Championship team. But I wasn't certain either position was right for me at this point.

"I'll take a break and then decide what I want to do.

"Do I want to stay in coaching? There could be other avenues to explore, but I still think I have plenty to offer as a coach. It's just about making sure my next step is the right one."
