Henry Trinder Gloucester 2013

Back: Henry Trinder

Gloucester centre Henry Trinder admitted his relief after returning to action from a groin issue on Saturday, saying it was a "perfect comeback".

Trinder, who was denied Test rugby because of a series of frustrating injuries, scored two tries in a 40 minute outing against London Wasps.

Gloucester won 36-5 against their visitors to Kingsholm and Trinder's cameo was a highlight ahead of their return to Aviva Premiership action.

"It was a massive game for us. We wanted to take momentum into the next few weeks where we have some hard games, the boys played well and there's now some confidence going forward," he told The Citizen.

"It was the perfect comeback. We got the win at home, the team played well and kept the momentum after the last few weeks, and it was great to get 40 minutes back under my belt.

"The plan was to give me just 40 minutes. Those are the games where you want to stay on because there's so many tries and a lot of open space, but you have to trust the opinions of the physios and coaches.

"It's been tough being stuck on the sidelines. There were some big Heineken Cup games which I would have loved to be involved in and I was coming off the back of disappointment in terms of the international stuff.

"For two or three months I was just carrying things. To an extent you can get away with it in the odd Premiership game but it was getting worse and I had to step off a pitch.

"As a player you want a quick fix but that wasn't possible, but I know how to manage my body now and hopefully it will be good. It's behind me now and there are some big games coming up with Gloucester."
