Discussions: Freddie Burns

Gloucester director of rugby Nigel Davies said "there is nothing concrete to say" regarding the future of Freddie Burns, when asked by the press.

The fly-half, who has left out of the starting line-up that defeated Worcester 12-6 on Sunday, watched Billy Twelvetrees wear number ten at Kinghsolm.

Davies' decision to drop Burns to the bench came after ongoing speculation about the playmaker's future, with Leicester rumoured to be interested.

"We are in discussions with him and when we are ready to make an announcement, we will do so," explained Davies after the full-time whistle.

But when pressed on whether that announcement would be in the near future, Davies added: "Well maybe. We will just have to wait and see. Freddie Burns is a professional and whatever he does, he will do as professionally as he can.

"From our own point of view, we are only focused on this season. We have a lot of work to do. It was a relief to get that result today and we have to build on that and keep on doing what we are doing.

"Freddie will be a big part of this season and, as I say, when we are good and ready to talk about next season, we will make that statement. There is nothing concrete to say at present."
