Corbisiero to miss Six Nations

Surgery: Alex Corbisiero

England prop Alex Corbisiero has been ruled out for ten weeks according to London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith.

Corbisiero has struggled with a knee injury throughout the current season - although he returned for the November Internationals against South Africa and New Zealand.

The news from Smith suggests that the loosehead prop has undergone another surgical procedure on his knee and will now certainly miss the Six Nations and possibly the rest of the season.

"Unfortunately for Corbs he had further surgery. The information our medical team have been given is that it is likely to be a 10-week injury," said Smith to TalkSport.

"I'd like to think he could get back on the park for us before the end of the season. There are still major question marks about that. He has a significant injury and he needs to be managed well."

V bad news for England - guess Vu will step in, but we will badly miss Corb's scrummaging - I hope we dont start Marler (too immature and a card waiting to happen)

Bigger loss than tuilagi for the game on Saturday where the scrum will be very important. First games are usually nervous unskilled affairs

I don't care (even as a saints fan) how soon he gets back, just that he gets properly rehabilitated in time for 2015, England need him and he's one of the best loosehead props in the world at the moment, don't rush him back in and risk his injury deteriorating further I say...

Saints timed it very well if this is successful surgery. IF. Surprised at the risk given their caution over Sheperd.

Not good news for England as we need him. Yes, we have a few props that could fill in but few of his quality. Has a good sniff at a Lions spot IMO but needs to be injury free and we haven't seen this in a while for Corbs. Good luck and we wish you a speedy recovery.
