Quins v Clermont: Mouthwatering

Harlequins are hoping to become the first club in history to qualify for the quarter-finals after losing their opening two matches.

Coach Conor O'Shea has promised his team will throw caution to the wind in Saturday's crunch Heineken Cup clash against Clermont.

Last year's finalists and current Top 14 league leaders arrive at the Stoop four points clear at the top of Pool 4 and a win will send them through to the quarter-finals, but Quins are still in the hunt for a play-off spot.

The London side snatched a crucial losing bonus point with a last-gasp drop goal when the two clubs met in France back in October but they must win this weekend to stay ahead of Scarlets and Racing Metro.

O'Shea said that making Heineken Cup history was "not something we have talked about," but admits they are "desperate" to claim the spoils on Saturday.

"Doing the double against Racing Metro has given us a chance," O'Shea told Sky Sports News.

"It comes down to playing an incredible side like Clermont. We'll become a better side for playing in matches like this. The players just cannot wait to get out there at the Stoop."

"We're not into moral victories - [the result in Clermont] was still a loss. But we'd gone through a very difficult start to the season because of form, injuries, players being unavailable. We wanted to put a marker down in that game about us as a group. We felt we created a lot of opportunities. But that was a long time ago.

"I'm just going to name their backs: Sitiveni Sivivatu, Aurelien Rougerie, Napolioni Nalaga, Jean-Marcellin Buttin at full-back, Wesley Fofana in the middle of the field - it's a mouth-watering task.

"The guys are desperate to get out and put in a performance. We'll approach this by going for it. It's the only way we can - if you try any other way against them you will die a slow death.

"The people who come down to the Stoop on Saturday are going to witness a great game of rugby. The forecast is for it to dry up so we'll do our best to make the pitch dry and give it a good crack."
