We got what we deserved - Mitchell

SKY_MOBILE John Mitchell - Sale Sharks - 8/12/12

Well beaten: Sale

Sale boss John Mitchell admitted his side "got what it deserved" in their 62-0 drubbing by Toulon in the Heineken Cup at Stade Felix-Mayol on Sunday.

The big-spending French side ran in nine tries to inflict a twelfth loss in fifteen games on the Sharks.

"The team is disappointed, as well as individuals with their own performances," said Mitchell.

"I've been looking at this group of players ahead of the Christmas period and I certainly know a lot more about some individuals after that performance.

"Some of the characters have been revealed and I don't have a lot of choice in some positions.

"But we don't have any regrets - we got what we deserved. Toulon were exceptional.

"All the defensive work we did in the first half took its toll. We were there for 35 minutes but we gave them two soft tries through the same channel and unfortunately against a side like Toulon you can't afford to do that.

"We were coming here looking to build on the previous performance at home, but that wasn't achieved and we are very disappointed."

Toulon director of rugby Bernard Laporte said: "I enjoyed the game a lot and we should give credit when credit is due. I must congratulate the players, for their individual performances and team effort.

"Our aim is to secure a home quarter-final. We've had two good wins in Cardiff and Sale and we needed to validate that, which meant getting a bonus-point win."

Watched this game live and danny ciprani is the worst defensive fly half in the history of the game, he made no effort to tackle people running down his channel he didn't miss tackles he just didnt even try would just watch people run past him! Matty giteau was having a field day....sale will not win a think until cips is droppedand miller or McLeod promoted just like at the Melbourne rebels

Motivational stuff:

IE I may select you but I still don't rate you.

Yes you did get what you deserved! Sale was embarrassing and it was so easy for Toulon that the match was almost boring...

There for 35 minutes? The first try could have been scored on the 2nd min of play!
