Treviso waltzed through us - Hamilton

Sombre: Scott Hamilton

Leicester Tigers winger Scott Hamilton has criticised his side's failure to adapt against Treviso last Sunday in the Heineken Cup.

The Tigers were cruising with a 26-7 lead at half-time, having already wrapped up the try bonus point, before Treviso fought back scoring two second-half tries to leave the final score at 33-25.

"A lot of their tries were soft. They weren't even missed tackles, they just seemed to be waltzing through us," said Hamilton to the Leicester Mercury.

"It was a sombre changing room afterwards with a lot of people worried about what we may be looking at during the video session this week.

"They played really well and tested us, getting to the line and looking to off-load with pressure on.

"We were not prepared for that. We were all expecting them to play conservatively, which they didn't.

"They just kept playing and playing, gaps opened up and we didn't adjust very well.

"They made us look amateurish on occasions and we need to work on that.

"We had a leaky defence and questions have to be asked.

"It was poor, but we got our five points and it's going to be very tough this weekend."

"They have a better squad now and are always going to get better by playing in the Pro 12."

"We know it won't be easy out there. Toulouse were losing at their place for 30 or 40 minutes before they eventually won. It will suit our attack better having a wide pitch out there.

"But we will have to adapt better. They slowed the ball down and sat at the back of rucks.

"We were doing our best to throw away opportunities as it was without them making it harder for us."

@carpelone.

yeah agree a lil'bit. Not really respectful towards Treviso, considering the mistakes the ref did both side...especially in the first half.

What about the second half...Citta-Leo-Rizzo just fix the scrum time and the back-row really pull up a fight with some tasty tackles from Favaro. Good to see Derbyshire back in business. But yeah...Treviso did turned up, and honestly I don't think the other teams disrespect them. That is a thing of the past.

...the day Treviso gonna be into the final stages of the HC and up there in the Rabo, then Italy will competing for the 6N title.

Once again, the heading (quite unrespectful) suggests the contrary of what the actual content of the interview is.

I thought that Leicester's early lead was quite undeserved, at least in the proportion reported at half time.

It should be a even nicer game next week end. Lions against Tigers, by the way.
