Five of the twelve players on France coach Philippe Saint-André's list of internationals asked to be rested this weekend featured for their clubs in the Top14..

Last Monday, the French national staff requested that the players who started both the Six Nations games against England and Italy be given the weekend off from Top 14 action in accordance with the recent agreement signed between the French Federation and League.

In the end, only the Parisians Jules Plisson and Pascal Papé, Toulouse's Yoann Huget and Yannick Nyanga, Castres full-back Brice Dulin Castres and Clermont centre Wesley Fofana spent the weekend out of the cold and rain. (Racing flank Bernard Le Roux was ruled out of action after suffering concussion against Italy).

Montpellier prop Nicolas Mas, Toulouse number eight Louis Picamoles, Clermont prop Thomas Domingo and Toulon centre Mathieu Bastareaud all played between 28 and 40 minutes off the bench while Jean-Marc Doussain played the full 80 for Toulouse in their narrow win in Biarritz, where the scrum-half had a shocking evening, missing four penalties.

24 of France's 30-man Six Nations squad were in action this weekend. Three were injured.

Benjamin Kayser has been ruled out of the rest of the Six Nations with a serious knee ligament injury. Racing prop Luc Ducalcon has a back injury and has been ruled out of this Friday's clash with Wales and replaced in the squad by Wenceslas Lauret

Bastareaud, meanwhile, is in doubt for the trip to Cardiff.
