Neck problem: Rémi Talès

France will be without fly-half Rémi Talès for at least another two weeks after it was revealed that he has neck injury.

The Castres pivot was set to be France's first-choice playmaker during the Six Nations until being forced to withdraw from the squad on Sunday with what he thought was a biceps problem picked up against Leinster in the Heinken Cup.

But the cause of the problem has been found to lie elsewhere.

"Rémi has a neck vertebra problem and will only be back in 15 days," said Castres manager Matthias Rolland.

The news is a further blows to France's Six Nations ambitions as the 29-year-old has started the last four Tests for les Bleus. He is now sure to miss next week's clash with Italy but could be back in time to face Wales on February 21.

Montpellier fly-half François Trinh-Duc has been called up into the 30-man squad but coach Philippe Saint-André is likely to pick either uncapped Stade Français youngster or Toulouse scrum-half Jean-Marc Doussain in the number ten jersey.
