Our scrum is secure - Scott

Tough day: Ross Ford

Scotland forwards coach Stevie Scott believes the problem's his side encountered against Wales are "out of our system."

In a match dominated by the whistle last weekend, with 28 penalties given by Craig Joubert, Scotland struggled at the scrum.

Scott however believes that his pack had an off day and will bounce back against France in Paris.

"Scotland have got a good scrum, a very good scrum. You will see that if you look back at the games leading up to the Wales game," he said.

"The problems we had against Wales are gone. They are out of our system.

"We have reviewed the game. We had a forwards meeting this morning. We know we don't have to change anything major. We just need to adapt little things to make sure that doesn't happen again.

"Our scrum is built around speed and the height of the scrum. But we will not change that. The referees are aware that we are not going early, but if you are not getting the engaging part right, it becomes pretty messy.

"The pleasing thing is that we go to France to face a side who want to scrum. Nothing changes for us at all.

"The front five and the whole pack are really looking forward to playing a game that will see us tested in that area."

JHamer25 - 1) I'm not English 2) I was talking about Jones getting away with murder, which he does. Cole may well do so too. 3) Played prop, I know about scrummaging 4) Wales have a canny scrum which punches above its weight, in fact a whole team which punches above its weight, which is commendable. Still think you are over-rating your scrum though.

All i have got to say Spartacus and admack is wait untill saturday. The srum is the best part of our game.

Itlay one of the world best scrumagging teams and look what we did to them at home, scottish scrum was getting the better of the english scrum in round 1 and look what we did to them.

Spartacus if you think our scrum is crap then you know nothing about scrummaging or rugby for that matter, how you can say adam gets away with murder when you have cole is just laughable.

At least admack gave our scrum a bit of appreciation. But honselty admack, name a country who will scrummage us off the ball becuase there are none. South africa no, New zealand (didn't even do well agianst our scrum in the autumn without adam) and austrlaia hell no. The only teams who can have a good go at us in the scrum is france and argentina. But therefore must have the best scrum.

It might sound biased but thats what our team prides themselves on.

And you can't take that away from them.

If we loose on the weekend ok but I will have a greta smile on my face as long as we destroy your scrum. Which im sure we will

I wonder if they have got their attacking deficiencies out of their system? Gien that they were playing at home you have to say they really didn't do themselves justice.

We all know the scrum is a mess atm.We also know how to fix it.Just 2 instructions SET and Engage, where on SET both frontrows bind together, and when stable the ref says Engage ,the ball is put into the scrum ,and the packs push .The referee then can see whos not bound properly before saying engage, and also has a better chance of seeing whos under pressure, and dropping the scrum on the Engage, when the power comes though..Or if its a pitch problem, and players not able to get any real purchase, for the shove..We are always going to have scrums collasping ect,but this way at least the penalties wont be so arbitary.

Jhamer25 - I know you Welsh like your rugby and love bigging up your team, but your scrum is crap. For reference see autumn tests against good teams. Adam Jones is a good player in the Jeff Probyn "get away with murder" mould, but that is it.

Yes it is a very strong scrum and scotland have a strong front row. But at the end of the day they were agisnt our (Wales') scrum which is probably the best in the world. So nothing to be ashamed off, they still beat the english, irish and italian scrum.

How about his version of events on Saturday.

Wales looked at the video of the England France game saw Joubert has a an anal fixation with early engagement and decided to go on the T of set instead of the S?

Result Wales look like good boys and get loads of FKs and pens.

Fair enough.

However, the two early engagements called by Joubert were correctly spotted. Wales took advantages of this and were cleverer in doing their own infringements.

Ford used his atouts too early
