It just hit me that Thretton Palamo wasn't available for the Eagles at this RWC after having become (at the time) the youngest player ever to start a RWC match in '07. Apparently he's giving American football a go... Do you really walk away from a pro rugby contract w/ Biarritz to play college football in Utah in hopes of a pro contract? Makes no sense to me.

As always i have tremendous respect for the USA really played well and made teams play for their wins.Bit unlucky against Italy the 1st try was from a forward pass and a knock on b4 that .Still made Italy really work for it though .Lets hope american tv start catching on and real sponsorship starts so a pro league gets off the ground .Remember it was only 20-25 years ago soccor was nearly unknown in the states now its a multi million industry .Im hopeful rugby will follow

Agree with all the comments - USA have been great for the tournament, and have done themselves no disservice in their bearing nor the standard of their rugby.
4 more years will be interesting, especially with (albeit 7s) in the Olympics from 2016. Nothing better than Olympic coverage to get the USA wider public interested... Plus, although gridiron is great, give a Tight End, a Linebacker or a Guuard the chance to be on the field the whole game, play Offence and Defence, adn get their hands on the ball? Most of the American players I've met playing at Annapolis and Westpoint are ex-Football players and they love Rugby. They also hit like American Footballers, which really hurts...

I can only wonder what more the Eagles could have done if they'd have had Hercus there to set the back-line into motion. Ngwenya and Patterson never really got their hands on the ball. The USA will have arrived when it produces its' own world class fly-half. Also not having a world class hooker or tight-head prop is extremely detrimental to the Eagles chances to hang with the big boys. I hope for Paul Emerick's sake that he's played his way into a contract with a bigger name team and perhaps the same for Louis Stanfill and JJ Gagiano. Good to see Blaine Scully take some big steps forward. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the Eagles ability to keep it close with Ireland and Italy. Well done to the Eagles! Let's hope 4 more years brings us that much closer to true parity on the world stage.

Well done USA. In a country that is dominate by American Football (wich I love it as well) is good to see such a spirit and commitment. I always said that USA Canada, Uruguay, and Argentina should be together for an American $ nations tournament. But Argentina next year will join SANZAR.
