Barrett eager to make up for Sydney

Yellow card: Barrett (22) is sent to the sin-bin by Jaco Peyper

New Zealand fly-half Beauden Barrett had only ever experienced victory in an All Black jersey until last weekend's draw in Sydney.

To make matters worse, he was one of two Kiwis yellow-carded during the game, being sent to the bin for kicking the ball away from a ruck with just over ten minutes remaining.

Kurtley Beale slotted the resulting penalty to level the scores, and that's how it stayed in difficult conditions, ending the All Blacks' streak of 17 straight victories.

Barrett's personal streak of 19 wins in as many New Zealand appearances was also brought to an end, although he still stands alone as the record-holder for the most Test caps without tasting defeat.

However there is some feeling that the All Blacks are vulnerable, having been pushed hard on last year's November tour and England's visit in June, before the Sydney clash.

And with the next game at Eden Park, where they haven't lost since 1994, also offering the chance to secure the Bledisloe Cup for another year, Barrett is expecting a response.

"I got sent off and there's nothing I can do about it now so it's how we bounce back and obviously I'm pretty hungry to put it right this week," he told Stuff.

"It was not very nice [in Sydney]. I could use worse words. It was a pretty gutting feeling in the changing-room afterwards. It was a big opportunity we let slip, but we're really excited about this week.

"It's an opportunity to win the Bledisloe, we're hurting from the weekend and Saturday is another big night.

"It was quite hard to watch from the sideline. It's hard to make a positive impact when you're on the sideline.

"You've just got to be disciplined. That's something that let us down at the weekend. No doubt the referee will be watching us this week, and hopefully we don't give him the opportunity to ping us like he did at the weekend."
