Not panicking: Kieran Read

All Blacks number eight Kieran Read believes the world champions' pack will deliver a better performance when they host Australia in Auckland on Saturday.

New Zealand are keen to put Saturday's 12-12 draw behind them and return to their winning ways at Eden Park - a venue where they last suffered defeat in 1994.

The performance of the All Blacks' forwards, in the Test against the Wallabies in Sydney, was criticised in some quarters but Read believes they held their own and will be back to their best in Auckland.

"There was disappointment, but we've got to shift that focus pretty quickly and have a great opportunity this week," he told TVNZ.

Read feels there is no need for the All Blacks to panic.

"It's about going back to the drawing board and that's about carrying hard, tackling well and recycling the ball quick," he added.

The scrums were a big talking point, but Read is not concerned about the way they conducted them.

" If you look at our ball every time we got it in we got it out, that's what we try and do," he said.
