Slim hopes: Rory Kockott

Castres scrum-half Rory Kockott has accepted that he will not be recalled by the Springboks any time soon despite his good form.

Kockott was the star of the Top 14 last season when he guided Castres to the title.

The former Sharks and Lions number nine will qualify to play for France at the beginning of next season and has been tipped to represent Les Bleus.

The 27-year-old though still harbours slim hopes however of representing the Springboks should the opportunity arise, but believes Meyer doesn't need him with Fourie du Preez and Ruan Pienaar in the current squad.

"Certain coaches believe in certain players. It doesn't look like Heyneke Meyer (Springbok coach) needs me," Kockott told Die Burger.

"He has Fourie du Preez and rates Ruan Pienaar highly. He also picked other scrumhalves and sees potential in Louis Schreuder.

"All that I can do it to play as well as I possibly can. The one thing I've seen here (in France) is that there is a place in a team for someone that gives their all."

Kockott's domestic future is also up in the air, with European champions Toulon said to be close to securing a deal to sign the South African from Castres.
