Discomfort: Euan Murray

Scotland prop Euan Murray remains unlikely to feature in next month's Six Nations Championship due to an ongoing Achilles injury.

Murray has not featured for his club side, Worcester, since sustaining the injury whilst on international duty during the November Tests.

The 33-year-old is still experiencing major discomfort according to his club boss Dean Ryan.

Murray would not have played in Scotland's opening fixture anyway regardless of his fitness, due to the match against Ireland in Dublin falling on a Sunday. Murray does not play matches on a Sunday because of his religious beliefs.

Time is therefore working against Murray to make an appearance in this year's tournament and to add to his 58 caps.

"I don't expect to have Euan back for at least four weeks," Ryan told the Daily Record.

"He is still being troubled by his Achilles from his last stint with Scotland.

"Euan is still in pain so it's not a short-term problem."
