Injured: Paul O'Connell
Ireland have been struck by another blow after it was confirmed that lock Paul O'Connell will miss Saturday's international clash with South Africa.
O'Connell returned to training at the start of this week and took a full part in the squad sessions held at Carton House on Monday and Tuesday.
However, the Munster second-row suffered a reaction and will not be fit for selection for this weekend's game against the Springboks.
Veteran O'Connell will see a specialist in the coming days and an update will be issued by the Irish Rugby Football Union in due course.
Ireland will name their squad on Thursday.

The fact that you can call the guy a joke, says so much about you. As I said in the last article have a word with yourself you prat. The guy has been putting his body on the line for province and country and been one of the leading forwards in world rugby during that time. What the hell have you done in your life that passes you fit to ridicule this man for being beset by injuries in the latter part of his career? I really am all ears.
Sadly hhl and carlepone I fear you are sadly right. If fit this guy is fit he is still one of the best locks in the world, but Ireland and Munster have to use him wisely and not flog the guy into retirement.

Great, I hope he's injured for the 6 Nations as well! Injury = forced change. Just what the Irish public have wanted for 3-4 years now.

The man has to retire. He is old and injury prone. i hope he does not destroy his legacy by playing on too long. Time to write a book, open a pub or a coffee house or go back on the farm.
