Wait a minute Les, you're confusing me (ain't difficult, I am but a Kiwi).
"Why should you get the ball back from a missed kick?". Ummm.... it missed because an Irishman played at it maybe? And no Les, its not like a tackle. It was a kick - quite different really...
And if it was a tackle, how can you assume you'd get the ball back??
Les, you must be taking the kiss....

Kiss has a good point, but the laws are the laws as they currently stand...OK, here's another take on the same incident which I can't work out, maybe the Planet Rugby reffing experts might wish to comment on:
O' Brien got fingers to Carter's 1st drop attempt. An Irish player collects the ball in the in goal area. All Black players that were in front of Carter pressurize the Irish player who collected the ball over the dead ball line. Are the All Black players who were in front of Carter and forced the Irish player over the dead ball line not off-side?
If the All Black players in front of Carter were off-side then they would have had no right to play or pressurize the Irish player and then the Irish player would have had time to clear the ball to touch knowing that by touching down or going over the dead ball line would have resulted in a 5 metre scrum. The fact he was played or pressurized, should it not have been a penalty to Ireland?

I am sure Les Kiss would have been happy if O'Gara had a dropkick charged down and then Ireland got a 5 mete scrum. Its not league Les!
Also I dont think the ABs played that well at all.

I don't think this is sour grapes but he would have been better off suggesting this to the IRB without revealing it to the press. I was gutted when Carter snatched the win but the fact is that he shouldn't have got their in the first place. It was Nigel Owen's scandalous scrum call 5 minutes earlier that did it!

This is ridiculous. The ball was deflected off an Irish hand and that is equivalent to its being carried back, just as, had it been deflected into touch, it would have been ABs ball. Presumably he wants the change to be retrospective!
