@ sextons_on_fire - just what all fans, team-mates and oppositions want to hear:

"I'm not going to try too hard today, as they're only a lowly opposition."

What a rediculous proposal. Suggesting that trying to win and having a high work-rate is "a serious flaw in his character" is nonsense. I'm glad I've never had the misfortune of playing with you.

I wonder if you think Dan Carter's world class..? Or Johnny Wilkinson? Or Brian O'Driscoll? Or..? What a load of misguided rubbish.

Shocking news but not surprising. I actually think a summer off will be good for him. Gives McLaughlin a good chance to show if he is up to it at test level.

Am I losing it or did that idiot at the bottom of the page actually make that post?

@ sexton...not sure that is a serious flaw in his character. I'd suggest he is one of those guys that gives everything everytime...quite a good character trait really. However, as you suggest he could limit his intensity...as a lot of players actually do.

Damn...that sucks for the Irish...he's by far and away their best loose forward...SOB has got to really step up to the plate here if Ireland want any chance of even winning a midweek...

@sextons_on_fire

What a ridiculous comment! Surely the mark of a great player is someone who gives everything in every match no matter who he is playing against? The reason he is such a hero for Ulster and Ireland is because he plays at such a high intensity!

Stephen Ferris, you are in serious danger of becoming the Ledley King of Irish rugby hahahaha

We really need to reassess this guy. One of the hallmarks of truly great players is that they know how to keep themselves fit and they know how to vary their intensity depending on the stakes. Ferris doesn't seem to know how to move down a few gears...he puts his body at risk even against lowly opposition and that's a serious flaw in his character. At the end of the day, how can a player be called "world class" if he keeps injuring himself?
