Wales player Rhys Priestland in action during the International

A knee injury means Scarlets and Wales fly-half Rhys Priestland will definitely miss his country's June tour of South Africa.

Concerns were raised on Saturday after Priestland sustained the damage and was forced off during the Scarlets' 27-15 derby victory over Cardiff Blues, their last fixture of the PRO12 season.

This is latest injury blow for Wales boss Warren Gatland, but should not worry him as much as the loss of flanker Justin Tipuric, nor centre Scott Williams from June duty.

The key reasons being the fantastic form of Ospreys pivot Dan Biggar, handed the PRO12 Player of the Season Award, and Leicester Tigers' Owen Williams, a stand-out in both the Premiership and Heineken Cup this season.

Indeed, Gavin Henson has emerged as unlikely candidate to fill in at fly-half after news broke on Tuesday the high-profile Bath back has been named in the "Probables" squad for Gatland's trial match on May 30.
