Staying: Rhys Priestland

Wales fly-half Rhys Priestland has reportedly opted to continue playing with the Scarlets despite offers from the Premiership.

Priestland had been linked with moves to London Wasps, Gloucester and Leicester in recent months, along with clubs in the Top 14.

However the 26-year-old has now pledged his future to the Welsh region, according to the Telegraph.

The news will no doubt be welcomed by Wales boss Warren Gatland with so many first-choice Welsh internationals currently playing outside the country.

Jonathan Davies is the latest player to sign a contract away from Wales as he moves to Clermont with Richard Hibbard heading to Gloucester, joining George North, James Hook, Dan Lydiate, Mike Phillips and Jamie Roberts overseas.

Priestland's decision therefore bucks the trend and will hand the Scarlets a welcome boost.

Uncertainty reigns however regarding with who Priestland has signed a new contract, with the WRU and the regions both offering contracts to leading Welsh players. That will hinge on the outcome of the latest participation agreement proposal.
