Wales winger George North was left disappointed after yet another narrow loss to Australia, despite scoring two tries.

The Northampton Saints flyer was over after just a minute for his first score after capitalising on an error from Adam Ashley-Cooper.

But from there the Wallabies gradually came back into the match before taking the lead before half-time thanks to tries from Christian Leali'ifano and Israel Folau.

Joe Tomane's score after the break left Wales chasing the game and although North grabbed a second after bursting through a tackle from Scott Hardy, his efforts were ultimately in vain.

Commenting on the ninth loss in a row to Australia dating back to 2008, North admitted the feeling was all too familiar against an impressive Wallaby side.

"From our point of view I think we've been here a few too many times," North told the BBC.

"We put up a good fight today but we've gone down in the end. The boys are disappointed. It was a roller-coaster ride for us.

"We are competing better now and pushed them to the end."

"To play a team like Australia you can't give them anything and they showed that today."

Reflecting on Wales' record in November - that included a loss to South Africa but wins over Argentina and Tonga - North believed Wales had been successful despite falling short of their objective.

"I think these November matches have been quite successful," added North.

"We set out to get three or four wins but we came up short. It is just that one percent to finish off and we'll be there."
