@cliffguy - did you actually watch the last wales wallabies game? Both sides executed poorly and made poor decisions. It was a great pity that Wales lost their captain so early in the game, it surely reflects lack of depth in the leadership in the Welsh team?
Then again, not nearly as bad as the SA - England game!

Yes its an emotional post, ill not deny that,,and Satarledwombats post is very good and balanced.I never ever said it would be easy for Wales ,but i did really think Wales where in with a shout of a series win this year, given the injuries ect in the Australian team. The article is about Howleys frustration ,and i was to some extent venting my own.Wales really never played as we all know they can. They lacked intensity in the 1st test and made so many mistakes ect ,they where outclassed in all departments by the wallabys .They where better in the 2nd test ,but again made so many mistakes ,the lineout wasa joke ,and again Wales can play better. The 3rd test well both teams played badly imho, but Australia at least where getting go forwrd and penatration,Wales by comparision where slow and turgrid, slogging forward ,rather than storming ,as they did at the RWC and 6Ns. Comparing Wales in the RWC and 6Ns to this series they where dreadfull by their own high standard they had set earlier .Being a gallant loser hurts just as much as geting thrashed ,espically when you know you havent played to your potential ,that more than anything is what i ment .

In the comments of Startledwombat and Melkdave you have the two extremes; the first gives a penetrating, balanced account, that sounds to me as if it may well come from someone who has actually played the game at a high level. Unbiased, mature, and very encouraging (and thanks, I'd forgotten about the dropped goal incident!). Melkdave just gives us the emotional, immature drivel that is based on ignorance. If you think going to Australia, and losing by 1 point and then 2 points is a sign of being 'dredful' (your spelling), then you're - to put it politely - not really in touch with the situation in rugby. Come on, keep up!

Wales did okay in this series. They just need to stop building themselves up so much before they play the top 3 ranked teams in world Rugby.

I can't but feel that some of the blame must lay with Howley.
Extremely poor kicking from Priestland last week cost Wales the game. This week it was more of the same with Priestland gifting the ball back to Oz many times after a hard won turnover.
But Priestland needn't feel alone - Farrell was just as bad...

You've got to have the physical ability, fitness and the ball skills to compete.
Then you've got to work together as a team and have the ability and vision to read the game so you apply the best tactics and change the plan if you need to.
And then to have the composure to hold it all together when you have a blowtorch being applied to you.
Wales got two out of three on this tour. The third only comes with playing test matches (one reason they call them tests).
They'll be disappointed that they didn't learn from last week that the final ten minutes, when you feel like you are dying slowly on the field, are what counts.
Wallabies will be pleased that after a decade they are getting back to closing out the close games.
There's been a lot of talk about the last series win by Wales being back in 1969. It shouldn't be forgotten that in Sydney 1978 Australia's dropkick that won the Wallabies the game went under the crossbar but was awarded by the (local) referee. It was a very poor decision.

His frustrated ,that has to be an understatment ,Wales this series have been absolutely dredfull .The post match interview where he said he was proud of his players ,was a joke imo.He should have just said of the players They have let themselves down and the nation ,this series we just never turned up and played to our ability. That atleast would have been the truth. On this series performances alot of welshman can kiss their Lions hopes goodbye Only.North,Cuthbert ,Halfpenny ,and Lydgate can now have any realistic hopes imho
