It's short-sighted in my opinion, although I admit that I don't know much about the players selected instead of those two. It's not like Peel or Powell are thousands of miles away; High Wycombe must be barely 100m from Cardiff!

Okay, Andy Powell is a great player, but Gatland said the Wales based players take priority and there is a lot of competition for No8.
However, Dwane Peel? Yes, he does play for Sale, but he has performed constantly, and with the exception of Mike Phillips, I don't see a better Welsh scrum half.
But let's give him credit. Let's pretend everybody agrees that it's fair Powell and Peel are left out, but Jamie Roberts?! He's a contender for best centre in the world, is a real role model, has been brilliant for Wales every time he has worn the shirt and he's not going to be playing in November? Ludicrus.

The only real absentee is Jamie Roberts?! How do you like them apples Dwayne Peel and Andy Powell. Ol' Gats wasn't joking around when he said he was taking players based in Wales first.
