BRITISH AND IRISH LIONS THIRD TEST CAPTAIN'S RUN MANU TUILAGI

Superstar: Manu Tuilagi

England and Leicester Tigers centre Manu Tuilagi has no intention of crossing codes, despite speculation from the Salford Red Devils.

Super League side the Red Devils have recently been acquired by backer Marwan Koukash, who has his eye on a number of the game's biggest stars from Rugby Union.

Tuilagi is one of them, but according to the Manchester Evening News the British and Irish Lion has told a source that any reports linking him with Salford are "utter rubbish."

Koukash spoke out last week about his disappointment over leading League players crossing over to Union, such as Sam Burgess who has recently signed for Bath. He also revealed his bullish intention to bring the best stars from Union over to League and to Salford.

"I will buy players from rugby union and I mean the very top players," Koukash told the Manchester Evening News.

"We already have our eyes on a few and if this is what we have to do, we will do it.

"We are already on the lookout at players who have played for the British Lions. If we want them, we will get them. I will show rugby union what I can do."

Tuilagi has two further years on his contract beyond this season with Leicester.

Tigers' CEO, Simon Cohen, further dismissed the link by saying that Koukash would have to have the same financial firepower as Microsoft creator Bill Gates to afford Tuilagi's services.

"Manu is under contract and unless the man is Bill Gates, he couldn't afford the transfer fee," Cohen told the Leicester Mercury.

"I don't know whether he is interested in Manu Tuilagi or not but we have absolutely no interest in selling him."
