We need to be clinical - Robshaw

England improving: Robshaw

England skipper Chris Robshaw believes his side must captialise on their chances if they are to overcome New Zealand in future meetings.

The English went down 30-22 to the world champions at Twickenham on Saturday, and turned plenty of heads with a workmanlike performance.

Robshaw stressed the need for the national team to be more clinical against the best.

"I think the difference between them and us at the moment is as soon as they get chances they are clinical. And that's the benchmark," said Robshaw.

"I'm extremely proud of the lads out there. We are going in the right direction. We will keep on moving and keep on learning."

Counterpart and opposite number Richie McCaw echoed his rival's statements about the need to turn pressure into points.

"I think Test footy is about taking your chances when they come, whether it is in the first minute or the last minute," added McCaw.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster place equal stress on the need for ruthlessness, but praised his team's character to come back from a 17-3 deficit.

"I thought they were very clinical," said Lancaster.

"Clearly there were some areas we did not get right.

"To have come back from 17-3 down to be leading 22-20 and not close out the game, we are frustrated really. But I'm proud with the performance.

"Everyone is very disappointed in the dressing room that we have lost and that shows how far we have come as a team."
