England call Burns and Twelvetrees

04th November 2012 18:00

Freddie Burns Gloucetser Aviva Premiership

Called in: Freddie Burns

England have added Gloucester back duo Billy Twelvetrees and Freddie Burns to their squad ahead of the November international Test series.

Burns replaces Jordan Turner-Hall, who will stay at Harlequins for treatment on an inflamed knee, while Twelvetrees comes in as temporary injury cover for London Irish's Jonathan Joseph (ankle).

36 players reported to the team base on Sunday.

"Freddie has been playing well in the Aviva Premiership and, with Jordan needing to stay at Harlequins for treatment, we are keen to have a look at him. JJ is continuing his recovery from an ankle injury and this is a good chance to get Billy in for training," said head coach Stuart Lancaster.

"As last week, George Robson and David Paice come in as an injury replacements for Courtney Lawes and Dylan Hartley. Both will be assessed and treated in camp and it is important that they stay with the squad as much as possible.

"We had a productive week at St George's Park and got a lot of work done. Now we are back at Pennyhill we will sharpen our focus towards Fiji on Saturday."

Definitely a good call, Burns has been the form english 10 in the premiership and 12trees has been pushing for an england spot for years now. I hope they're given the chance to play against Fiji or someone at least so we can compare allen/JTH/Barritt to the quality we actually have available at 12. I'd love for a care, Burns, Ashton, 12trees, Tuilagi, Wade, Brown backline to run out on saturday, more likely we'll see Allen, Farrel or Barrit in the midfield with Flood at 10. Although Lancaster has surprised us before...let's hope he does again.

For a moment there I thought I'd read that SL had called up Burns and 12trees. Obviously that can't be right. Two of the form English players being selected for the EPS? Not going to happen.

These guys need to play, not just train with the squad. I'm glad they've been called up but I'll be happier still if they play. I reckon the Fiji game would be ideal for them.

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!! Its about time, the public has been wanting 12Trees to be in the England side pre World Cup, I thought that SL would have snapped him up as soon as he took over and I was even more surprised when he didn't get selected for the SA tour, i'm sorry but if you look at the players in front of him, Barritt, Allen, Turner-Hall something isn't adding up. The England inform backline is without a doubt

9-Care

10-Burns

11-Simpson-Daniel

12-12Trees

13-Tuilagi

14-Ashton

15-Brown

I would be a happy, proud and optimistic Englishman if this side was to run out for the first game of the 6N's

That's for Fiji. Flood may well get back to bench or start for Oz. And Ben Youngs may start for that one too. But if Burns has a cracker Vs the Fijian backs, I'd like to see him stay.... In my dream world of being coach.

Yay! If Lancaster keeps doing things like this what am I going to have left to complain about?! Great decision as they're both in fantastic form.

@sirtidychris

Happy days. Now if they select Brown i will stop my moaning. Sherrie and Easter after-all are not long term options. And Armitage brought it on himself.
