I used to think very highly of Mortlock but am not so convinced these days. He has a tendency to go missing from a game, which is not what you want from your captain.
Seeing as the Wallabies' problems are up front, they should make one of the forwards captain anyway.

Wallabies will miss Stirling's presence--but the best backline may have Barnes at 1st five, Giteau and Ashley-Cooper at centre and O Connor at full back--Turner down on confidence but he will bounce back--Mitchell playing well--and Sharpe for captain--can't afford Smith as he may not be on the field the whole game-

Bring back Ryan Cross - that man makes things happen. The Wallabies will miss Mortlock but with Cross in the team they will be a big threat. Give me a more aggressive captain though than Smith, even consider bringing back Phil Waugh for the job, or Sharpey?

Is it surprising that the boks feel picked on - Bakkies Botha cited and banned for a normal clearout - Giteau getting away with a completely illegal and dangerous challenge ' If you can't beat them cite them !

A real pity. I was glad that Henry offered him another chance in the team. I would like to see players fit and able for longer than they currently are. He played his heart out on the field in SA.

I bet the match stats with and without Mortlock are completely different. He is crucial for the Wallabies. Especially more for one which is lacking in confidence.

They should also be without that-git-ou, who should have been cited and banned for that tackle.
