White won't target "freak" Folau

Brumbies scrum half Nic White after scoring against Chiefs

Hungry: Nic White

Brumbies scrum-half Nic White admits getting inside the head of Waratahs full-back Israel Folau is a pointless exercise as he is a "genuine freak".

White, whose men play in Sydney on Saturday for what's a huge semi-final between the stand-out Australian sides in 2014, said he was unaware of any sledging of the Wallaby number fifteen that took place in their fixture earlier in the regular-season and added it clearly had no effect.

"I don't know [what happened], we've got a few quiet islanders out there but if they did, they poked the wrong bear," he told the Canberra Times.

"He's a long way away from me [on the field], I've got my head in with the forwards. It didn't work last time so I don't think they'll do it again.

"It doesn't matter what you throw at Izzy, he's going to make it work. You kick deep he makes it work ... there's no one technique that works against him. He's a genuine freak, the type of player who changes games. You've got to be on your game and hope he's off his."

This is the biggest Australian Super Rugby derby match for over a decade and promises much in terms of intensity, especially with the Rugby Championship around the corner and Wallaby selection up for grabs.

"These are the games you want to play in, the games you work hard for in pre-season and work hard for each other ... to give yourself a chance of playing in these big games," White added.

"There are a lot of teams watching the semis this weekend wishing they were out there, so I guess we've earned the right to play in these games."

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham meanwhile said he was happy with their preparation: "We're really focused on making sure the detail and performance is there for this game."

"This group of guys is certainly comfortable with finals football. I think the guys stand up to the pressure quite well.

"We're lucky to get guys back from injury and be as close to full strength as possible."
