Gloucester hooker Darren Dawidiuk has insisted that the arrival of British and Irish Lion Richard Hibbard is a good thing for his long-term career.
The 26-year-old former Cornish Pirates player has played plenty of minutes for the Cherry and Whites this campaign, performing well up front.
But when it was announced two weeks ago that Hibbard would arrive next season, many thought Dawidiuk might be downhearted. He clearly isn't.
"It's a really good signing and a great positive for the team, the club and myself," he told the Gloucester Citizen.
"Personally I see it as a positive - you need to learn from someone like Hibbard.
"I see it as a massive competition and that's only going to drive the squad harder. I will have to push myself and improve as a player.
"I'm really looking forward to having that competition and working alongside him."
