Try for Edinburgh: WP Nel

Edinburgh scored three tries in the last seven minutes as they thrashed Connacht 43-10 in the Pro12 at Murrayfield on Friday.

Edinburgh earned their first bonus-point win of the Pro12 season thanks to a blistering end of a second half where the home side scored 27 unanswered points and left Connacht rooted to the bottom of the table.

Three tries in the final ten minutes of the game from Cornell du Preez, Nick de Luca and WP Nel came on top of 23 points from the boot of Greig Laidlaw and a first half score by Dougie Fife.

With a Laidlaw penalty goal to get the ball rolling, an audacious Dan Parks drop goal soon afterwards got the visitors on the scoreboard, before Robbie Henshaw raced down the wing to score his side's only try of the night.

Parks converted for a 10-3 lead to Connacht, before the home side started to claw their way back into the game.

Two Laidlaw penalties got the home side back to within a point, before Fife scored on the stroke of half-time with a try after patient play by the Murrayfield side.

Handling errors were to be Connacht's undoing, as they had the opportunity to score soon after the restart but knocked on with the line in sight, and Laidlaw made them pay with two penalties before the final flourish.

Du Preez accepted the short pass out wide as the spare man to score with ten minutes to play, before de Luca intercepted to score the third of the game, while Nel rounded the night off with the bonus-point score in the final minute.
