Bath hooker Rob Webber has expressed his disappointment at missing out on a place in the England Elite Player Squad for the new season.
Webber played an important role for England during their tour of South America in the absence of Tom Youngs and Dylan Hartley.
However the former Wasps hooker has now had to settle for a spot in the England Saxons squad for the new season - although head coach Stuart Lancaster has made it clear that spots in the Test squad remain up for grabs.
"Of course I'd have preferred to be in the Elite squad but Stuart certainly made the point that we are all one big squad rather than two separate squads," said Webber to the Bath Chronicle.
"That's been one of the really big improvements in the England set-up with the integration between the Saxons and the EPS squad.
"I know that if I continue to work hard and impress between the start of the season and November there's still a great chance I can be involved in those internationals.
"We all had great fun on that trip. t was three great wins over Argentina and the Barbarians and fantastic to be involved in that environment.
"For me it was a great way to round off the season after suffering with a few injuries over the year."
