Rob Howley: Believed Wales would turn the corner
Wales caretaker coach Rob Howley said Saturday's Six Nations title triumph topped last year's Grand Slam success.
The 30-3 victory over England in Cardiff secured the crown for Wales - their first back-to-back championships in 34 years - while they denied England of securing their first Grand Slam since 2003.
"This is better than the Grand Slam last year," revealed Howley. "We were outstanding. They have shown great fortitude and they outclassed England."
Wales endured an eight-game losing streak, after last year's Grand Slam triumph, but Howley said they always believed they would turn the corner.
"We kept on sending the message that good teams don't become bad teams overnight," he explained. "We were consistent with that message and the players have gone out and delivered.
"The Millennium Stadium is a unique place in world rugby and we felt with our experience, with the crowd behind us, we needed to start well.
"The first 20 minutes was the foundation. England had a six-day turnaround which is tough and we wanted to take advantage of that and we certainly did."

Wales must be kicking themselves for a stangely hesitant first half against Ireland. They'd be grand slam champions now if they had performed in the first 40. England will be back. No doubt about that. Nobody moaning about Howley now. He was a calss player and he's proving himself as a coach

Some people are really pathetic it's laughable.
People love to blame the ref but I mean come on Walsh was just as harsh at the breakdown for both teams. Sam should have had 2 turnovers but for some reason Walsh penalised him. So don't go blaming Wash for your peti loss as it is pathetic. England on tha day jsut didn't turn up, they have loads of talent but have over rated certain players and expectied too much from them.
The only english players who should ahve been on that pitch was Geoff parling and robshaw. To class acts who deserve recognition and played untill the end.
But i mean launchbery had a shocker but that might be because he was forced back into the team not 100% (bad call lancaster), your onyl attack was tuilagi who was outplayed by Jamie roberts who had his bet game since the lions tour. Out muscled tuilagi by smshing him once and hten tuilagi did nothin else (one dimensional).
Marler was just a joke he got smahed at the scrum and tackle area. You were never going to beat our scrums but thye should at least og had Vunipolo who play in th loose when he came on was amazing.
