Jenkins negotiations "on and off"

Gethin Jenkins Wales 2012

Ongoing: Gethin Jenkins

Cardiff Blues director of rugby Phil Davies remains hopeful over a deal to bring Gethin Jenkins back to Arms Park from Toulon.

The Wales prop has struggled to settle in the south of France and has been linked with a return home since last year, with negotiations still ongoing.

"We'll just have to wait and see," Davies told BBC Sport.

"It's been on and off but at the moment he's a Toulon player and that's where it stands.

"If things change we'll announce that when we can. At the moment we're just looking for that experience up front and we're busy getting on with it.

"We haven't got a massive amount of finance to restructure the squad at this present time.

"Everybody knows we're looking for some experienced forwards up front. We've signed Matthew Rees - he'll be a great asset to us, along with the hookers we've got who have come through this year.

"Gethin is a fantastic player, we've said this, a world-class player."

Also in order of lions looshead at the moment it should be

1.Ryan Grant

2.Cian Healey

3.Gethin Jenkins

4.Alex Corbisiero (but he is injured t the mo)

Don't see much in marler. Very good at club level but nowhere near the level of lions yet. He is still only young though and i see him as more of one for the future.

He can also get frustrated and messy under pressure. look at the second hald of the england irelnad game. He was nder pressure to keep up a good scrum and got destroyed by ross.

I really hope he does. I'm a scarlets boy but gethin has always been my favourite player and the arms park is his home.

It's aweful how toulon have treated him cause all they are is gready anwant an all cast squad.

He needs to get back to blues for his sake, he will have much more game time and be at his best again.

He had a cracker last week agaisnt france now he just needs to keep thta up and get out of that club.

Even come to scarlet if he wants ;) just get back to wales mate.

A worldclass player like him doesn't deserve to be mistreated like he has been.

I think its sad to see a player of that calibre playing so badly due to not getting game time

We should have been going into the Lions with 3 top looseheads in Jenkins, Marler and Healy and not to mention Corbisiero he could get himself fit, but Jenkins doesnt even look like making the plane at the moment, he needs to get some regular rugby

I think Gethin is a player who declines without regular game time. I think he will leave because above all else he wants to be at his best for Wales and Lions and he's found Toulon is threatening his chances. Don't worry about the money Gethin: you'll always have a job to go to after playing life.

Cant really see it happening to be honest.Gethin will get his chance at Toulon ,as Laporte will start rotating his players a bit more comig into the final part of the season.Just to ensure they are as fresh as can be for wining silverware.
