Aaron Jarvis, left: Suffered knee ligament damage

Warren Gatland has delayed his scheduled team announcement by 48 hours until Thursday because of what the Welsh Rugby Union describe as "ongoing injury concerns".

Prop Aaron Jarvis will miss Saturday's Test against Australia in Cardiff after suffering a knee ligament injury during last weekend's loss to New Zealand.

"Jarvis will undergo further consultations this afternoon with a view to determining the need for surgery," the WRU said in a press statement on their official website.

But lock Bradley Davies, who was hospitalised after being struck from behind in the second minute by All Blacks hooker Andrew Hore, is back in the Wales camp and has not been ruled out of coach Warren Gatland's plans for the Test against the Wallabies.

"Bradley Davies is back in the Wales camp after spending some time in hospital on Saturday night," the statement added.

"He is recovering from severe concussion and following the appropriate return to play protocols.

"He is not training today, but it is still too soon to reach any further conclusions."

The WRU revealed that six further players on the injury list will benefit from the extra time afforded by the delayed team announcement.

Centre Jamie Roberts (hip) will not train during the early part of this week, while flanker Ryan Jones has stitches in a head wound and will also only do limited training.

Wing George North (hip) remains in contention to return after missing the All Blacks game, while lock Ian Evans (knee) was scheduled to undergo a fitness test today and fly-half Dan Biggar was due to do limited training following a shoulder problem.

Prop Paul James and utility back James Hook have returned to their clubs as the Australia match falls outside the International Rugby Board's autumn Test window, but France-based trio Mike Phillips, Gethin Jenkins and Luke Charteris have remained with Wales.

Agreed, Priestland is the only fit 10.

Or I will qualify that, the only fit play who is considered a 10.

I have not heard of Biggars chances ofplaying, but rate them very doubtful from what happened when he was injured, so they will have to have some cover on the bench.

Anyway, if Wales do drop to the 3rd band, a group with one of the top four, Ireland or England, we'll still get through to the quarters at the next RWC!

Wales will fall to 9th if they lose; not 10th. But it'll put them in the third band, just the same.

@AKARKP

The simply fact is apart from D.Bigger,Wales havent got any FH with international experiance ,now that J.Hook has been recalled to his club in France.S.Jones retired from international rugby,and J.Tovey and Morgon havent played a international match .Hoping myself that Bigger recovers from his injury and starts ..

@Hermes

Yes if Wales lose they will drop out of the top 8 down to 10th.While if they win by more than 15 points they will climb above England and by less than 15 points above Ireland.Biggest game since the G/Slam 0ne this year for Wales,and most probily explains the delay in naming a team W.Gatland is going to want as many options as he can get player wise.Myself im staying well away from making any selections on this match lol,but i prey Preistland isnt in the team
