Well i hope he can do it ,there is potential in the Italain backline ,and to be honest they badly need to change from a forwards only gameplan .In the modern age there is very little differance between packs overall ,and Italy have suffered having no backs so they can mix the game up ect. Also the selection policy concerning hieght /weight ect has to go imo.S.Williams and N.Back proved that ability not size matters most even in the modern game.

Italy to become a team that wins on a more consistent basis have to play more rugby, it might mean taking a few beatings but in the long term it could be beneficial. Having said that anything less than 2 wins on their tour will be a disappointment.

Its a shame the new team aren't going to be based in Rome. The team could have played at Stadio Flaminio in the league and the Olimpico for Heineken Cup - imagine that!? No disrespect to Parma but Rome would also be a more attractive destination for players, fans and probably sponsors. I fear a Parma based team will just be another Aironi but better than nothing, 2 pro teams are essential. In the less 2 years: Gori, Benvenuti and Vendetti all emerged and on their way to making names for themselves on the international stage.

In order to be taken seriously, Italy should win all the three of this, including the one with the Baby Pumas.

The new franchise could be instrumental in growing new players and in testing game structures, although basing it in Parma is a mistake.

I'm sad thing reading that Brunel said "Italy have a narrow base", which is NOT TRUE.

Italy is full of junior teams with plenty of talented young kids.

The truth is that Italy rugby politic is to not choose players under a weight/height limit, regardless of their overall abilities.

What's really narrow, is FIR president Dondi's (and his loyal servants) brain.

If Italy goes on selecting players who can run only on a stright line, Brunel can stop wasting his time on "new style of play".
